Green India Challenge begins its sixth phase from Telangana’s Kondagattu forest area

The Green India Challenge (GIC) has launched its sixth phase by planting nearly 1,000 saplings at the Kondagattu forest area in Jagityal district, Telangana on Saturday. GIC, an initiative to increase the green cover throughout the country, was founded by MP Joginapally Santosh Kumar. The event was attended by various officials, including ministers Koppula Eshwar and Gangula Kamalakar, MLAs, and the GIC founder himself. This year’s theme of GIC is “Fight against plastic pollution and control its use”.

During the event, Santosh Kumar spoke about CM K Chandrashekhar Rao’s vision and support in reconstructing the renowned Lord Anjaneya Swamy temple in the beautiful surroundings of the Kondagattu forest area. The aim is to establish the spiritual spot as one of the leading centers of spirituality in the country while preserving its natural beauty.

Santosh Kumar had previously announced that the forest area adjacent to the temple would be adopted and developed under the Green India Challenge. With an allocation of Rs 1.04 crore from the MP funds, he sanctioned various initiatives like constructing a protective fence, a walking track, a watchtower, gazebos, and restoring the forest area around the temple premises.
